Caipirinha with Sicilian lemon
The traditional Brazilian caipirinha is prepared with Tahiti lemon, known as "lima" in Portugal. However, it is possible to prepare caipirinha with Sicilian lemon (yellow lemon), although this has less juice than Tahiti and some people consider the taste more acidic. Check out the step-by-step recipe that we make available here on Specialfood and try it out!
Ingredients for making Caipirinha with Sicilian lemon:
100 milliliters of Cachaça
2 units of Sicilian lemon
4 tablespoons of sugar
crushed ice
How to make Caipirinha with Sicilian lemon:
To make this recipe for a caipirinha with yellow lemon, start by washing the lemons and cutting them into a frame. Remove the white filament so that the drink doesn't taste sour.
Tip: Some Sicilian lemons have a thick rind and little juice. If it's the case of the ones you're using, add another one to the recipe, just use the pulp and zest from their skin.
Now cut the lemons in half and distribute in two cups, along with the sugar. Knead with a punch, until well crushed.
Tip: If you prefer, add more sugar
Finish this caipirinha with Sicilian lemon with ice and Cachaça and serve afterwards, well chilled. Tell us what you think and have fun!
